I’m a HCPC Registered Paramedic with more than 25 years’ experience and a Somatic Trauma Informed Coach specialising in supporting first responders, NHS staff, military veterans and other helping professionals who are living with the effects of chronic stress, trauma, anxiety and overwhelm.

For most of my career, I was the person others relied upon. I felt privileged to be invited into people’s lives during some of their most difficult moments, supporting them through crisis, uncertainty and trauma.

Like so many people working in caring professions, I became very good at looking after everyone else.

What I wasn’t so good at was recognising the impact the job was having on me.

There was a time when I looked like I was coping on the outside, yet inside I felt overwhelmed. I struggled to switch off after shifts, replayed difficult jobs in my mind, questioned whether I could have done more and found myself carrying work home with me. My brain never seemed to stop, sleep became difficult and I realised I wasn’t as present with the people I loved as I wanted to be.

I tried all the things I thought I was supposed to do, but nothing really changed because I was only trying to calm my mind.

Everything changed when I discovered something that now sits at the heart of my work:

Trauma doesn’t live in the mind alone. It lives in the body too.

When our nervous system has spent months or years protecting us, it doesn’t simply switch off because we tell ourselves we’re safe. Our body has to experience safety before it can begin to let go of survival.

That understanding transformed not only my own life, but also how I now support others.

Today, I help people who spend their lives caring for everyone else while quietly carrying the emotional weight of what they’ve experienced. Many of my clients tell me they feel exhausted, constantly on edge, unable to switch off, overthinking everything, struggling to sleep and wondering why they don’t feel like themselves anymore.

The truth is, they’re not broken.

Their nervous system has simply been doing exactly what it was designed to do—protect them.

My role isn’t to fix people.

It’s to help them understand what’s happening within their body, gently regulate their nervous system and create the conditions where healing becomes possible.

My work is always trauma informed, compassionate and tailored to the individual. Depending on your needs, I may draw upon nervous system regulation, somatic healing, Brainspotting, parts work, Mind Coding and neuroscience-informed approaches to help you move beyond simply surviving and begin living with greater calm, confidence and connection.

There is nothing more rewarding than seeing someone begin to trust themselves again. To sleep peacefully. To stop carrying every shift, every incident or every conversation long after it’s finished. To reconnect with the people they love and discover that life can feel lighter again.

If there’s one thing I hope you take away from my work, it’s this:

You don’t have to keep carrying this on your own.

Healing doesn’t happen because you’re stronger or try harder.

It happens when your nervous system finally experiences enough safety to stop surviving and start living.
