Community Based Mental Health & Wellbeing Support
The Mental Wellbeing Club and JIM Club (a men’s mental health support group) are part of a global network of community-led mental health and wellbeing groups, delivered in person in your local area by Certified Mental Wellbeing Practitioners and Trauma Informed Coaches from The Mental Wellbeing Company.
These grassroots clubs create safe, supportive spaces where people can come together to understand their mental health and wellbeing, learn practical tools for coping with life and connect with others in their community.
Because “It’s Good to Talk” Isn’t Always Enough
For years we have been told that when it comes to mental health, “it’s good to talk.” And talking absolutely matters. Being heard and connecting with others can make a real difference.
But many people have experienced something frustrating that they can explain what’s happening, talk openly about their struggles and still leave feeling exactly the same. That’s because mental wellbeing is not just about what we think. It’s also about how we feel in our bodies and how our nervous system responds to stress.
You don’t think anxiety. You feel it.
Most traditional mental health support focuses on thoughts and conversation. The Mental Wellbeing Club takes a bottom-up, nervous-system-led approach, helping people understand what is happening in their bodies and giving them practical tools to cope with real life and learn to cope and regulate in the presence of stress, struggle and challenge…
Mental wellbeing isn’t about eliminating those things. It’s about learning how to cope in the presence of them.
The Mental Health Reality
The need for accessible mental wellbeing support has never been greater.
- Nearly 1 billion people worldwide live with a mental health condition
- Depression and anxiety cost the global economy over $1 trillion every year
- In the UK, 1 in 4 people experience a mental health problem each year
- Three-quarters of suicides are men
Yet many people still struggle to access support early enough.
The Mental Wellbeing Club exists to help bridge that gap by creating safe, accessible spaces within communities where people can learn, connect and build the tools they need to navigate life.
Not Just Another Support Group
Many support groups focus mainly on sharing experiences. While that can be valuable, it doesn’t always give people the tools they need when they return to everyday life.
The Mental Wellbeing Club is different. Each club combines connection, education and practical tools designed to help people understand their nervous system and manage stress more effectively. Participants learn:
- how stress affects the nervous system
- why emotional reactions happen
- how trauma and life experiences influence behaviour
- practical tools to regulate stress and emotional overwhelm
People leave not only feeling heard, but also equipped with tools they can actually use in real life.
How Our Clubs Work
Each club follows a simple trauma-informed structure designed to create safety, learning and connection.
Arrive & Settle: Participants arrive, grab a drink and take time to transition from the busyness of the day. A gentle exercise may help the nervous system slow down and settle.
Build Capacity: This part of the club focuses on learning practical tools and understanding how the nervous system responds to stress and emotional challenges.
Connect & Chat: The club finishes with conversation and connection, allowing participants to share experiences and build supportive relationships within the community.
Specialist Mental Wellbeing Clubs
Alongside our core Mental Wellbeing Clubs, we also offer specialist clubs focused on key areas affecting individuals and communities.
Stress & Anxiety Clubs: Helping people understand anxiety, stress responses and practical tools for regulation.
Domestic Abuse & Coercive Control Clubs: Providing safe spaces to understand trauma responses and rebuild emotional safety and awareness.
Mental Health & Wellbeing Clubs: Supporting individuals to develop resilience, emotional awareness and practical coping strategies.
Men’s Mental Health Clubs – The JIM Club
Men’s Mental Health & Wellbeing
Men’s mental health is one of the most urgent mental health challenges of our time. In the UK:
- Three out of four suicides are men
- Suicide is the leading cause of death for men under 50
- Men are significantly less likely to seek mental health support
One of the reasons is simple: many men do not feel comfortable attending spaces labelled as ‘mental health groups’. So we created something different…
The JIM Club
JIM stands for Just Improve Myself
Not because anyone is broken. But because sometimes the most powerful step someone can take is simply choosing to focus on themselves, learn new tools and understand how to navigate life better. The JIM Club provides a relaxed, supportive space where men can:
- understand stress and emotional pressure
- learn tools to cope with life challenges
- connect with other men in their community
- focus on improving their wellbeing without judgement
Think of it as a workout for the brain rather than a workout for the body.
