From Lived Experience to a Global Mental Wellbeing Movement
This company was not created from theory.
The Mental Wellbeing Company exists because I once sat on the other side of the system, trying desperately to survive inside it.
Years ago, I experienced domestic abuse and coercive control. When the relationship ended, the trauma did not. I found myself facing financial ruin, over £70,000 of debt, homelessness and raising two children while trying to hold myself together.
I was diagnosed with complex PTSD, depression, anxiety, panic attacks and I was self-harming. On the outside, I looked capable. On the inside, I was spiralling.
As someone with a medical background, I felt deep shame as I could not understand how I had ended up there. I was doing everything I was told to do. I saw my doctor and was given six free counselling sessions and I saw a psychotherapist. And whilst those sessions helped at first because someone was finally sitting opposite me and believing me, outside of that room I felt like I was unravelling.
I thought I was failing at healing. I thought I was broken.
But I wasn’t broken. The system was incomplete.
The Missing Piece No One Was Talking About
As I began researching more deeply, I realised something profound.
Mental health and wellbeing support was largely focused on a top-down approach….. thoughts, cognition, behaviour. But no one was talking about what was happening in my body. No one explained the nervous system and no one taught me why I felt like I dud t want to get out of bed one day and filled with anger the next.
There was very little bottom-up, physiology-first support.Once I understood that trauma lives in the nervous system, not just the mind, everything changed.
My symptoms were not weakness. They were survival responses.
I was not a diagnosis, and that realisation reshaped my life.
Retraining, Rebuilding, Reimagining Mental Wellbeing
I started to grow a social media following and realised I was not the only one feeling like this so I completely retrained.
I immersed myself in trauma informed practice, positive psychology, somatic modalities, neuroscience, nervous system regulation and embodied approaches to mental health and wellbeing.
I did not want to offer surface-level awareness. I wanted to understand the mechanisms underneath human behaviour. My training includes:
- BSc (Hons)
- Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Positive Psychology & Coaching Psychology
- Internal Family Systems (Level 3)
- Somatic Experiencing Practitioner
- Brainspotting Practitioner (Phase 4)
- EMDR (Attachment-Focused)
- Clinical Hypnotherapist & Hypnotherapy Trainer
- Certified Somatic Trauma-Informed Coach
- Polyvagal-Informed Practitioner
- Applied Neuroscience & Brain Health Certification
- Advanced Certificate in Domestic Abuse
- Safe & Sound Protocol Practitioner
- Certified Breathwork Teacher
And many more specialised trauma and mental wellbeing qualifications. But the qualifications came after the lived experience. And that matters.
From One-to-One Support to Systemic Impact
I began working with individuals on a one-to-one basis and word spread quickly. My practice became full and people were not just seeking support, they were seeking understanding.
Many of my clients were on their own healing journeys and said something powerful: “I want to do what you do.”
They did not want to stay as recipients of support. They wanted to become part of the solution. So I created trauma informed and mental wellbeing qualifications. I trained practitioners and I built frameworks rooted in nervous system education and capacity building. And then something became undeniable. This was not just an individual issue.
- Schools were overwhelmed.
- Workplaces were stretched.
- Communities were carrying invisible strain.
- People were being labelled as difficult, resistant, fragile, diagnosed or unmotivated when in reality their nervous systems were overloaded.
There was a systemic gap; and that is when The Mental Wellbeing Company was born.
Why The Mental Wellbeing Company Exists
- I do not want another person to sit in a doctors office believing they are broken and just sat waiting to feel better.
- I do not want teachers burning out because no one has helped them understand nervous system load.
- I do not want workplaces offering surface-level wellbeing days while their teams are silently dysregulated.
- I do not want individuals to feel shame because insight alone did not fix them.
The Mental Wellbeing Company exists to bridge the gap between psychology and physiology. We deliver nervous-system-led, trauma aware, preventative mental wellbeing education and support across:
- Individuals
- Schools
- Workplaces
- Public sector organisations
- Communities
We focus on building capacity, not labelling pathology.
- Because when you understand the nervous system, behaviour makes sense.
- And when behaviour makes sense, shame reduces.
- And when shame reduces, healing becomes possible.
A Human-First Mission
This is not about replacing therapy.
It is not about diagnosing.
It is not about fixing people.
It is about equipping people.
It is about building internal safety so humans can cope in a world that is asking more of them than ever before.
I believe deeply that:
- No one is broken.
- Most people are dysregulated.
- And systems were never designed with nervous systems in mind.
We are here to change that with over 300 exceptionally trained Certified Mental Wellbeing Practitioners & Certified Trauma Informed Coaches completing our in house an ICF and CMI level 7 training programme in trauma informed coaching and leadership and our practitioner certificate in mental wellbeing.
A Global Voice for Modern Mental Wellbeing
Today, my work has reached hundreds of thousands globally.
I am a multi-award-winning trauma-informed and nervous system expert, Hay House author and host of the podcast “No Visible Bruises” with over six million downloads. I have been featured on BBC Radio, ITV, Channel 4, Newsweek, Psychologies Magazine, Daily Mail, Daily Express, OK! Magazine and Thrive Global and a social media following over 500,000 across platforms.
But none of that matters more than this:
I have sat where many of your staff, students, clients or community members are sitting right now, and I know what it feels like to believe you are failing. You are not failing. You are responding to pressure without the right tools.
This is not just my story; it is the reason this organisation exists, and we are only just getting started.
